Brown Will Not Seek Renewal of Contract

Newport Town Manager Paul Brown announced at Monday’s Selectboard’s meeting that he will not seek a renewal of his contract at the end of June. Brown stated that he will be returning to his previous position as Finance Director and Assistant Town Manager for the town. For the past three years Brown has served as Newport’s Finance Director as well as Town Manager and a search for a part time finance director was unsuccessful. Brown reflected on his work as town manager and said “We have had success in the last three years with stable budgets, infrastructure investment and the passage of contracts with both unions. We have achieved these successes while providing the level of services expected by the citizens of Newport. I look forward to working to continue those successes as we move into the future.”
