Newport and Claremont Collaborate

The Superintendents of Claremont and Newport are collaborating on improving their technical centers. Last night both Claremont and Newport school boards met to review the Sugar Valley Career Technical Study.

This past fall Claremont Superintendent Middleton McGoodwin and Newport Superintendent Cindy Gallagher along with the technical schools’ faculty created a Career Technical Study, which identified their programs strong points and weaknesses. McGoodwin said one of the recommendations is for the schools to share a Counselor that will help students identify goals.

McGoodwin said the technical centers should be pathways for students to be prepared for college.

The Career Technical Study and the power point presentation will be on the web site of both schools for the public to review.
