About 45 people attended Newport’s deliberative session Tuesday night to go over warrant articles being voted on next month.  All articles stayed as written with little discussion until Article 15.   Article15 was put on by petition by Heather Hardy and asked for any changes to the Town’s EMS Services or service providers be put to a town vote.  Hardy said the article was put on because of actions of the Selectboard in past months, ending service to Lempster, Mount Sunapee, increasing rates to neighboring towns and asking the Town Manager to look into the feasibility of the cost of an outside ambulance service.

Outgoing Selectboard Chairman Gary Nichols and former EMS worker said a town vote could only be used as an advisory.

The town has no plans to disband the ambulance service and is looking to hire an outside firm to look into the efficiency of how the EMS/Ambulance service is run.
