On April 14, 2016, the Hanover Communications Center began fielding phone calls from concerned residents over threatening messages left on their answering machines. The caller, who identified himself as “Officer Sean White,” stated he has important information for the homeowners. He provided a return phone number of 325-400-8607.
Hanover Police investigators quickly determined that “Officer Sean White” does not exist and that he and his conspirators are engaging in a typical scam designed to elicit cash payments from unsuspecting residents.
Hanover Police applauds those residents who identified the calls as fraudulent, and encourages all members of our community to contact any member of the department or our communications center at (603) 643-2222 if they suspect they have received a fraudulent call or have fallen victim to a scam.
