Alaskan Man Drowns in CT River

cornishAfter an hour and a half search Upper Valley first responders found the body of an Alaskan man who drowned in the Connecticut River in Cornish last night. Cornish Police Chief Douglas Hackett said first responders from Cornish, Meriden, Windsor, Lebanon, Hanover and Hartford VT recovered the body of a 21-year-old AmeriCorps Member shortly after 7:15 pm.  The man had been swimming with a female AmeriCorp member near the Blow Me Down Farm disappeared in the water just after 5:30 pm and she reported the incident.  Both were working with the Student Conservation Association at St. Gaudens National Park. The name of the deceased male is being withheld pending notification of family members
