UPDATE -VT State Police Locate Missing Hunter

At approximately 1300 hours Sunday November 20th, searchers with Border Patrol located John “Jack” Chapman in a very remote area of Norton, Vermont.  After 4 days of searching teams aided by a US Border Patrol Agent located Mr. Chapman walking in a clearing approximately 1 mile south of the Canadian border. Mr. Chapman was last seen on Hurricane Brooke RD by other hunters over 3 miles south of this location in the late afternoon on Wednesday, November 16th . Mr. Chapman lost his bearings on Wednesday and was attempting to make his way back to camp on Holland Pond. Mr. Chapman was transported by Lyndon Rescue and is expected to be released to his family members after being seen at North Country Hospital in Newport, Vermont.

Vermont State Police was assisted by Vermont Fish and Wildlife, US Border Patrol, New England K9, Vermont KSAR, Rescue Inc., Upper Valley Wilderness Rescue and several local volunteers.

State Police would like to extend a thank you to ALL who helped with this search.

hollandThe Vermont State Police Search and Rescue Team along with assisting agencies, New England K9, Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team, Vermont KSAR, Rescue Inc, and Vermont Fish and Wildlife game wardens continued the search for John “Jack” Chapman throughSaturday evening and into the night. The search was discontinued at approximately 2200hrs and will be resumed Sunday morning.
