Fire in Weathersfield Home Started in Furnace

A Weathersfield VT home sustained minimal damage to the upper levels from a 2-alarm fire that started shortly before 5:30 pm Thursday.  Fire Officials say black smoke was showing from the building when the Weatherfield’s units arrived at the Maple Street residence. The home owner and sole occupant made it safely outside and told firefighters the fire started in the basement.  According to Fire Chief Josh Dauphin, the fire started in the oil furnace but the cause is unknown.  Most of the damage was in the basement of the residence. Twelve Mutual Aid fire companies were the scene West Weathersfield Fire Department were back in their quarter by 9:00 pm.
