Plea Hearing Rescheduled for Former Guidance Counselor

mauzy A former Newport high school guidance counselor convicted of indecent exposure and lewdness has had his plea agreement rescheduled.

Thomas Mauzy, 44, of Sunapee was found guilty on seven counts of indecent exposure and lewdness last May and was given a 1 year sentence at the Sullivan County House of Correction suspended for two years.  Mauzy was accused of standing naked in front of his bedroom window in full view of his upstairs neighbor, who reported him to Sunapee police.

Mauzy immediately demanded a jury immediately after district court judge Bruce Cardello found him guilty. On Friday, the court scheduled the case for a Monday plea and sentencing hearing, according to the Valley News.

On Monday, the plea agreement was rescheduled to Thursday at 3 p.m., with a tentative pretrial date of Jan. 19 at the Sullivan County Superior Court according to court papers.

After his arrest Mauzy was put immediately on administrative leave and the voluntarily resigned from the Newport School District at the end of the 2015-16 school year.
