Fatal Fire in Webster

flamesState Fire Marshal J. William Degnan announces the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting Fire Chief Emmett Bean Sr. of the Webster Fire Department and Police Chief Ben Liberatore of the Webster Police Department with a fatal fire investigation at 401 Little Hill Road in Webster, NH.

Webster Fire Department was called to the above address on January 22, 2017 at approximately 02:45AM for a house fire.  The fire was discovered by an occupant of the home, who alerted the other occupants to the fire.  A total of nine people were at the home at the time of the fire.  Eight escaped the fire with one unaccounted for when fire personnel arrived on scene.  First arriving fire personnel found a fully involved structure fire and Webster Fire Chief Emmett Bean Sr. requested a third alarm response from surrounding communities to assist with manpower and water supply.

The NH State Fire Marshal’s Office responded and during the course of the investigation located one deceased individual inside the heavily fire damaged home.  An autopsy is scheduled for January 23, 2017 at 0900 to make positive identification of the deceased individual.  The home was a complete loss and the fire investigation is still on going at this time.

State Fire Marshal Degnan would like to remind everyone that working smoke alarms save lives and have an escape plan in case of a fire.

Anyone with information that may assist with the investigation is encouraged to contact Investigator Shana Clark of the State Fire Marshal’s Office at (603) 223-4289.
