A Senior housing facility is among the proposed uses of the historic Newport Mills. The mill located at 169 Sunapee Street has been sold to investors in Florida that are exploring plans for the currently vacant building. The property sold for $1.1 million by William Ruger, Jr. to 169 Main Street, LLC out of Palm Springs, Florida. Business consultant Keith Henderson said Ruger plans to sell off the rest of “his empire,” and the sale of the mill is the first of the family’s Newport properties to sell.
The mill was originally a shoe factory and has recently housed an art gallery and William Rugar Jr.’s exquisite antique car collection.
