Multi-Agency Effort to Find Suicidal Man

lebanon-mapThe Lebanon Police Department received a call on Friday at approximately 4:00PM of a 62-year-old Vermont man who had wandered off in the area of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The man was not a patient in the hospital. The man’s wife reported he was a serious risk of harm to himself.
As a result, Lebanon Police K9 Unit Officer Jeremy Perkins and his K9 partner Max began a search with other Lebanon officers, as well as Lebanon Fire and Rescue, Hanover Police and Hanover Fire and Rescue of the wooded trails around the hospital.
After an extended track, NH Fish and Game was contacted, along with New Hampshire State Police for their helicopter, which has thermal imaging capabilities. NH Fish and Game Officers, along with Troopers from NHSP Troop D provided further assistance as temperatures dropped and it became dark.
The man was eventually located unharmed and was brought to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s ED for treatment.
The Lebanon Police Department extends its thanks to the agencies who assisted in a difficult search in very cold temperatures.
