Over 43 incidents happened at Dartmouth’s Annual Winter Carnival this past weekend. The polar bear swim and human dogsled race garnered high participation numbers. Five people were taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, six people were taken to Dick’s House and Hanover Police arrested four people. One of the students ran from Safety and Security twice while going to Dick’s House and was caught both times. He later was taken into protective custody by Hanover Police and then transferred to Grafton County jail. There were 11 incidents regarding violations of liquor laws, consistent with previous Winter Carnivals, as there were 15 in 2014, six in 2015 and 11 in 2016. Overall the incident rate was down from 52 from 2016.
