NH Fish and Game Conservation Officers responded to Swanzey Saturday evening after a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) rolled over with seven (7) passengers aboard. At approximately 4:45 PM, Ryan Amer, 42, of Swanzey was attempting to drive the UTV up a steep embankment in the woodlands off of Owens Drive while six (6) passengers were riding in or on the UTV with him. The Polaris Ranger side-by-side, which was grossly overloaded, rolled over and down the embankment. Brian Massucco, 42, one of the passengers, was transported to Cheshire Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. All other passengers were uninjured. Although the accident is currently under investigation, preliminary reports from the investigating Conservation Officers indicate that alcohol was a contributing factor. None of the passengers were wearing helmets or using seat belts. Off Highway Recreational Vehicle (OHRV) enthusiasts are reminded to heed manufacturer’s guidelines for payload/passenger capacities and never operate under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
