Cyclist Killed in Milton Accident

On Sunday April 2, 2017 at approximately 3:03 p.m. the Wilton Police Department was notified and responded to a motor vehicle crash located on NH Route 31 at the intersection of Burton Highway in the Town of Wilton, New Hampshire.

Upon arrival the at-scene investigation revealed a white 2006 Subaru Impreza operated by Albert S. DODGE III, age 24 of Wilton, NH was traveling northbound on NH Route 31 and attempting to make a left handed turn onto Burton Highway.  Simultaneously a black Trek road bike operated by Jeremiah FITZGIBBON, age 60 of Bedford, NH was traveling southbound in the breakdown lane of Route 31.

For unknown reasons at this time the operator of the white 2006 Subaru Impreza failed to recognize the southbound traveling cyclist ultimately crossing into its path and striking the cyclist.

As a result of this collision the cyclist suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to those injuries.

Assisting on scene were members of the Wilton Police Department, Wilton Fire & Rescue, EMS Crews, and NH DOT.

At this time the crash investigation is being handled by the State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit (C.A.R. Unit).  Anyone that may have further information related to this collision is encouraged to please contact Trooper Michael McLaughlin at (603) 223-4381 or by email at michael.mclaughlin@dos.nh.gov.
