Man Arrested for Aggravated Sexual Assault in Claremont

On April 17, 2017 Officers of the Claremont Police Department working in conjunction with Deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office arrested Thomas “Tommy” Edwards 52 of Manchester NH

Mr. Edwards was arrested in Manchester, NH without incident.

Mr. Edwards was wanted on felony warrants charging him with Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault and Attempted Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault.  Those charges stem from an incident in Claremont during July 2016.

The State alleges Mr. Edwards sexually assaulted a 14-year-old child through the application of superior physical strength.

Mr. Edwards was arraigned on 4-28-2017 in the Claremont District Court where bail was set at 100,000 dollars.

The charges, both class “A” felonies, carry a maximum period of incarceration of 7 ½ to 15 years and a fine not to exceed 4,000 dollars.

Mr. Edwards will be back in Claremont District Court on May 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. for a probable cause hearing.
