On Saturday, May 27, 2017, at approximately 1630 hours, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks responded to a motorcycle collision on the Interstate 93 north exit one off-ramp in Salem, New Hampshire. The Interstate 93 north exit one off-ramp was reduced from two lanes to one lane for approximately two and a half hours while the crash scene was investigated. The Interstate 93 south exit one off-ramp was also closed for approximately three hours while the crash scene was investigated.
Roger Marchand of Northwood NH, driver of the motorcycle lost control and subsequently struck the guardrail. Marchand was ejected from his 2003 Harley-Davidson and pronounced deceased at the scene. A helmet was located at the scene but it is not known at this time whether or not the operator was wearing it prior to the collision.
