A Sunapee woman is recovering after being attacked by a rabid bobcat on Sunday. Elsie Dabrowski, 80, was gardening at her Sunapee residence and putting her chickens away when the bobcat approached and lunged at her.  Dabowski suffered cuts to her face, arm, back and wrist. Dabrowski’s son subsequently shot the bobcat.

The animal was tested by the NH Public Health Lab and found to be rabid. If you know of anyone bitten recently by a bobcat, or a pet or livestock animal recently bitten, please contact the NH Fish and Game Department at 271-3361 or the Sunapee Police Department at 763-5555.  For your information, a bobcat’s territory generally ranges anywhere from 8 to 25 square miles.
