President Calvin Coolidge is the only US President who was born on the Fourth of July and in Plymouth VT, they are celebrating his 145th birthday. The events start with the Welcome 20 of America’s newest citizens following a naturalization ceremony at 10 AM. At noon, a Vermont National Guard delegation leads a parade to the Plymouth Notch Cemetery to lay a wreath from the White House at President Coolidge’s grave.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, there is a traditional Fourth of July barbecue at the Wilder House and a Coolidge birthday cake. Syndicated columnist Cal Thomas will interview Tracy Messer, the new Calvin Coolidge impersonator in the church at 1:00 PM. In addition, there will be wagon rides, music, and all twelve historic buildings will be open for tours at the President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site.
