A Plainfield NH mother and son were arraigned on Friday in Claremont District Court via video from the Sullivan County House of Corrections on a murder for hire scheme. Maurice Temple 63 and Pauline Chase 83, both of 455 County Road were taken into custody on Thursday and charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Solicitation to Commit Murder, and Attempt to Commit Murder.
According to court paperwork, Pauline Chase paid about $5,000 to a man as a down payment to kill Maurice’s ex wife Jean Temple. Chase and Temple discussed the plan with the man numerous times. Maurice Temple was in an ongoing dispute with his ex-wife from a debt from their divorce and missed several payments. Temple resisted arrest when officers went to the Plainfield home with an arrest warrant in June.
Chase and Temple are lodged at the Sullivan County Correctional Center in lieu of $1,000,000.00 cash bail each. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Chase and Temple on Aug. 7th at 1:00 PM.
